Conservatoire for dance and musical theatre
General Advice

Classes
Students should not attend classes without prior arrangement.

Dress
Students should not be brought to class in their dance wear. Changing facilities are available and must be used.

Attendance and Absence
It is essential to attend all classes regularly and to arrive punctually in order to benefit fully from the tuition received and to build strength and technique. Parents are asked to notify the College Office when illness occurs, especially if it is likely to result in an absence of more than one week, and particularly when a pupil is preparing for an examination or performance. Unexplained absences may result in cancellation of exams. Parents are asked to obtain permission from the Head of Junior Dance, to attend any auditions for professional schools, engagements or outside classes.

Examinations
Entry for examinations is at the teacher’s discretion and pupils taking ballet examinations will be required to attend all classes.

Fees and Notice period
All fees are payable in advance or during the first week of term and are non-refundable. Should you wish to discontinue lessons with any teacher at Bird College, notice in writing must be given at least five weeks before tuition ceases. Otherwise, the remainder of the amount due for the term’s lessons must be paid in full. Please note that holiday periods do not count as notice, and that payment is required for the first five lessons of the following term if insufficient notice is given. Under no circumstance should fees be paid to the dance tutor.

Lost Property
Please reclaim lost property from our Birkbeck Studios. We regret that we cannot take responsibility for lost or damaged items.

Complaints procedure
If you need to discuss any issues you should, in the first instance, speak with the Head of Junior Associates. If the issue is not then resolved, you should make an appointment to see the Deputy Principal.
