Musical Theatre Artist
Having started performing at a young age with the BBC’s Young Generation, Liz’s West End career began with ‘A Little Night Music’, directed by Hal Prince and the revue ‘Side By Side By Sondheim’, which she subsequently took to Toronto with Georgia Brown. Other London theatre credits include ‘I Love My Wife’, ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘Song and Dance’, ‘Kern Goes To Hollywood’, ‘Sound Of Music’, ‘Music Man’, `Phantom Of The Opera’.
She starred in an extensive US tour of ‘The King and I’ opposite Rudolph Nureyev and performed at the Kennedy Center Honors before President and Mrs Ronald Reagan. Liz starred in the musical ‘Hairspray’ at the Shaftesbury Theatre performing Velma Von Tussle and was the original Madam Giry in ‘Love Never Dies’.
Liz has over 50 years experience of performing in theatres both in the UK and America. Her love of all things theatrical led her to join The Theatrical Guild 30 years ago, a charity that had always been close to her heart.
She made her West End debut in A Little Night Music, directed by Hal Prince, followed by Side By Side By Sondheim which she took to Toronto with Georgia Brown, and was then chosen by Cameron Mackintosh to star as Eliza Doolittle in his revival of the iconic musical My Fair Lady, for which she received an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical, and a Variety Club of Great Britain Award.
Other London credits include; I Love My Wife, Song and Dance, The Music Man, The Sound of Music and Phantom of the Opera. Liz created the role of Madame Giry in the world premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies, played Velma Von Tussle in the hit musical Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre, and could recently be seen as Cheryl Gillan in Committee at the Donmar Warehouse. She is currently playing Miss Andrews in Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward theatre.
In America, Liz could be seen on Broadway in Dance a Little Closer and Jerome Kern Goes to Hollywood (which she originated at the Donmar Warehouse, London), and the US Tour of The King and I alongside Rudolph Nureyev. She has also performed at the Kennedy Centre Honors before President and Mrs Reagan.
