Non Executive Director
University of London graduate, Economics and Geography. Worked with Tate & Lyle for thirty years, initially in transport, then moving on to trading molasses. In 1988 I joined a small group seeking to identify investment possibilities in Southeast Asia. In my capacity as Project Manager working between Hanoi and London, this culminated in the commissioning of an $85m sugar factory in North Vietnam in 1999. After leaving Tate’s, circumstances drew me to work for the UK Government as a Southeast Asia Trade Advisor and subsequently with several consultancy groups in both the UK and abroad, encompassing a wide range of cultures and ethnicities. Training and development figured highly in my work. I was invited to join the Board in 2008 and have served continuously since. Married with two daughters who were fortunate in receiving musical education and performing through the Centre, we are expecting our first grandchild early in the New Year. Having recently retired, I am now enjoying my interest in music, theatre, steam railways and gardening.
