Licensed Teaching

Individual and group, vocal and instrumental tuition is provided weekly during term time by Licensed Teachers employed by Bird College. Lessons on all instruments in every orchestra family (strings, woodwind, brass, percussion) as well as piano, keyborad, drum kit and voice are offered at Bird College, The Centre, 27 Station Road, Sidcup Da15 7EB.

Most lessons are given on an individual basis on the same day each week for eleven weeks per term. Shared lessons are also available and group tuition is offered in keyboard, violin, aural training and music theory.

A minimum of five lessons notice must be given to the Office, in writing, prior to the cessation of licensed teaching.

Bird College is an examinaton centre for Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Trinty Guildhall. Pupils having tuition with a College teacher may be entered for an appropriate external examination after consultation with parents. Parents are required to pay the examination fees at the beginning of the term in which the exam is to take place. Please note that, apart from piano examinations, an accompanist is required for all practical examinations. A list of accompanists is available from the College office. Pupils taking the Assocaiated Board examinations cannot progress beyond Grade 5 practical without first obtaining Grade 5 theory of music. The College offers group theory lessons. External candidates can also be entered for exams at the College.
