Kerensa Gardner   Executive Support Manager

Kerensa began her working life in the banking sector, moving from there to the aviation insurance sector where she worked for 17 years. She is particularly interested in education administration and  joined Bird College in 2007 where she has gained extensive experience in a range of roles – she was initially appointed Assistant to the Registrar and following the retirement of her predecessor was appointed Head of Registry & HR in 2008. Kerensa took on her current role of Executive Support Manager in 2011, and her responsibilities include providing support to the Executive and Leadership Groups, HR and Facilities Management.  She is the Secretary to the Board of Directors, Board of Trustees and their sub committees and she is the Lead Administrator for the Capital Project. In February 2014 Kerensa was also appointed Health & Safety Manager.

Kelly Hemblen   Management Accountant

Kelly joined the college as a modern apprentice in 2001.  She gained experience in both admin and finance. She then left the college to gain commercial experience in the finance sector returning to Bird College in 2009. She recently completed the AAT Accounting Technician course and is now Management Accountant.

Gillian Davis   Senior Finance Officer

With a background in insurance and finance, Gillian has worked in a variety of administrative roles. She joined Bird College in 2007.

Tanya Robb   Agency Manager

Tanya trained at Bird College of Performing Arts. Theatre credits include understudying and playing the role of Bianca/Lois in Kiss Me Kate (Chichester Festival Theatre & The Old Vic Theatre, London) Alice in All the Fun of the Fair, Wendy Jo/understudy Ariel in Footloose, Dinah/understudy Pearl in Starlight Express and Lorraine in 42nd Street (UK tours). Lisa in Mamma Mia! (Prince of Wales Theatre), Kitty in Drowsy Chaperone (Upstairs at the Gatehouse) Swing in Mary Poppins (Prince Edward Theatre), Loretta/understudy Mary in Tonight’s the Night (Victoria Palace Theatre), Swing in We Will Rock You (Dominion Theatre), understudy Linda/Maddy in Peggy Sue Got Married (Shaftesbury Theatre), understudy Sally Smith in Me and My Girl (Alexandra Theatre Birmingham), Alice in Dick Whittington (Theatre Royal Wakefield), DuBarry was a Lady (Her Majesty’s Theatre), Mother in Aspire (Doha Qatar), Cinderella (Theatre Royal Bath) and Fred Astaire – His Daughter’s Tribute (London Palladium).

Original cast recordings include We Will Rock You, Tonight’s the Night and All the Fun of the Fair.
Television includes The Future WAGS of Great Britain. Film Credits include Tubby & Enid (BBC/Endor).

Naomi Seal   MIS Team Leader

Naomi recently graduated from Goldsmiths University where she studied English Literature and Drama.  She has worked in a variety of administrative roles including offices in the Adult Education College Bexley.  She joined Bird College in December 2011 as Registry Manager and is responsible for all aspects of Registry.

Jo Treacy   Programmes Administrator

Jo has worked in a variety of administrative roles including primary and secondary schools. She joined Bird College in February 2008 as Registration and Timetable Coordinator (Music Services) and transferred in September 2010 to her current role of Programme Administrator.

Heidi Guningham   Resource Centre Coordinator

Heidi started working life with Morgan Grenfell a leading investment bank in London in a secretarial capacity. She then spent 8 years working for the London Borough of Greenwich as a Systems Administrator before becoming involved in the running of the family business. Heidi joined Bird College in October 2009 as Resource Centre Co-ordinator.

Lai-Sheung Chan MA, CERT ED, TCPD (RBS), A.R.A.D., ADV DIP (HKAPA)  Performance & Events Coordinator / Senior Ballet Tutor

Lai-Sheung Chan graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts where she majored in Dance and received an Advanced Diploma. After graduation she has joined the Hong Kong Ballet Company and has participated in many productions and also appeared in various soloist roles. Lai-Sheung has furthered her studies and gained the specialist Teaching Diploma in the Teachers’ Course for Professional Dancers at the Royal Ballet School in London. She has also obtained her Advanced Certificate in Education which is accredited by the Canterbury Christ Church University College in Kent, England. In 2007, she graduated with an MA in Arts Management from the City University in London. Lai-Sheung has been teaching and coaching classical ballet worldwide and was the Ballet Mistress for the Hong Kong Ballet Group’s Winter Production in 2001. Lai-Sheung has been working at Bird College in London since 1997. Currently, she is Performance & Events Coordinator / Senior Ballet Tutor. Besides her responsibilities in teaching and management, she also conducts rehearsals for college public productions.

Marian Gittins MSc, CTA (Psych), UKCP Reg, MBACP (Accred), PG Dip Couns.  Head of Counselling

Marian worked in corporate finance and education administration before re-training in Counselling and Psychotherapy, working towards her MSc degree in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy in 2003. Marian was employed as a Counsellor for the London Borough of Bromley, working in primary and secondary schools. She was also employed for five years by Medway council as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist working with secondary school age children. Marian has also worked in private practice in the Bromley area with adults, young people and couples. She was awarded the Post Graduate Clinical Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling in 2008 and gained her accredited status as Counsellor/Psychotherapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2009. She gained her MSc and Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) status in TA Psychotherapy in 2012. These qualifications led to her professional registration with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists. Marian joined Bird College in 2012 to set up and run the Student Counselling service.

Liz May Brice BA(Hons), MA (Cantab)  Acting Tutor/Learning Support Tutor

Liz entered the acting profession at the tender age of ten, juggling television acting roles with school work, whilst also taking dancing, singing and acting lessons at Laine Theatre Arts, as well as touring with the National Youth Music Theatre to Japan and Edinburgh with Guys and Dolls in which she played Adelaide. At 19 she decided to read English at Cambridge University, where she took part in as much theatre as possible, such as The Cambridge Footlights and playing Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra. Whilst studying at Cambridge for her MA, she also began her professional acting career as an adult at Salisbury Playhouse, playing Mabel Chiltern in An Ideal Husband. Frank Greaves   Site Manager

Frank began his working career as an Apprentice Painter and decorator with the London Borough of Lambeth, and has worked at the London Clinic in Harley Street. He has worked in L.A. as a specialist Decorator and also worked on Disneyland Paris working in the Disneyland Hotel prior to it’s opening in 1992. Frank worked for EPS/MITIE for many years as a Multi Trade Maintenance fitter before being promoted to Supervisor in 2007. Frank commenced employment with Bird college in January 2013 as Caretaker and was promoted to Site Manager in August 2013.
